Design basis and system studies

Electrical engineering begins with operating philosophy, load data, supply conditions, fault levels, reliability requirements and utility interfaces. These inputs define the distribution architecture, voltage levels, redundancy and protection philosophy.

Where required, load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, voltage drop, cable sizing, grounding and other studies are developed from a controlled design basis.

Detailed engineering and interfaces

Single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, cable schedules, layouts, grounding, lighting and installation details are coordinated with civil structures, mechanical packages, automation and utility requirements.

Equipment loads, cable routes, embedded items, room conditions, access and maintenance clearances are checked before procurement and construction release.

Site support and energisation

Site support verifies equipment placement, cable routing, terminations, labelling, protection settings and test readiness. Deviations are assessed before energisation to maintain safety and system selectivity.

Energisation plans define prerequisites, isolation boundaries, permits, test certificates and responsibilities so incomplete systems are not put into service prematurely.

Testing and owner outcome

Testing can cover insulation, continuity, grounding, protection, functional operation, interlocks and integrated interfaces. Settings and test evidence are incorporated into the handover dossier.

The owner receives a documented electrical system with verified capacity, protection behaviour and operational readiness.
